Auckland aged-care residents struggling with isolation in lockdown

This is such an important issue! My parents are both in a care home and feeling so isolated and alone. I believe the government needs to take mental health of our loved ones into account as the current rules are causing so much distress.
My mother has done 70+ days in an apartment the size of a hotel room. The village doesn’t let residents mix as they follow Government rules. If 14 days in MIQ is resulting in mental anguish what does the government think 70+ days with no release date is doing to our double vaccinated senior people. I think it’s cruel and inhumane. Give guidance to the villages.
It is cruel – mum can’t walk and most days sits in her room. It would be nice if they could get their hair done or nails cut. She is lonely, bored and desperate to get out! I have lost 11 weeks of valuable time with her! Would we treat an animal like this? Why can’t I see her outside?
