Frances Sheehy​, 76, is not someone you can easily triumph in a game of Bridge. She has been playing the game for 55 years, represented New Zealand at tournaments four times and been an Otago representative 20 times.

But these days Sheehy is no longer showing off her skills at Bridge tournaments as she’s been doing for so many decades.

Like many other older Kiwis, Sheehy has had to back out of in-person tournaments due to fears of catching Covid-19, and online tournaments due to a lack of tech literacy.

Mary Buckland, President of Canterbury Bridge New Zealand (pictured), said while the game could be played online, it was not the same as being there in person.
